Pressing Matters
Keep on rolling
Issue 31, July 2025

In the July 2025 issue of Pressing Matters, I write about the recovery of Print House after Hurricane Helene and how that experience made the impacts of climate change feel anything but distant. Our one story is part of a much larger narrative about the tenacity and creative force of the artist and craft community in Western North Carolina and beyond. I reflect on the studio’s journey from its early days at Riverview Station to where we are now, and how this experience has reshaped my work, deepened my practice, and reinforced my belief in the vital role creative spaces play in our communities.

In May 2025, I interviewed with Ashley Locke of Good Grit Magazine, where I share the story of Print House’s journey—emerging from the damage of Hurricane Helene into a 2,300-square-foot printmaking studio, gallery, and workshop space in downtown Asheville. The interview touches on rebuilding with the help of community support and grants, our focus on sustainable, solvent-free printmaking.
